Two different languages are official in La Vila Joiosa: Valencian, the language from the Valencian Region, and Spanish or Castellano.

OPENING AND EATING TIMES

The eating times in Spain are normally as follows: Breakfast could go from 7:30 to 10 am; lunch time in a restaurant from 13:30 to 15:30, and dinner from 21:00 to 22:30. These times are only orientative. Opening times for shops are normally 10-13:30 h. and 16:30-20:00, Monday to Saturaday morning in most of the cases. Shopping centres and supermarkets are open normally from 10:00 to 21:00 Monday to Saturday. All of them close on Sundays and Bank Holidays, with some exceptions.

POST OFFICE

Is situated in Avda País Valencia, n 38. The telephone number is 965 891 230 . It opens from 8:30 to 14:30 Monday to Friday, and 9:30 to 13:00 on Saturdays.

WEATHER

Villajoyosa enjoys an excepcional weather, tipically Mediterranean. Due to the high mountains that surround the city, it is isolated from the Western rains of the Peninsula. The avergae temeprature is over 18 C. Summera are hot and winters are mild, with temperatures always over 10 C.

TIPS

Tips are included in the bills and there is no need to leave. However, you can do it if you consider the service was excellent in bar and restaurants.

Opening times: Monday to Friday 8:30-14:00 / 14:30. Some banks open Saturdays mornings. There are plenty of ATM’s around the city with international service.

CREDIT CARDS

The vast majority of hotels, restaurants and shops accept credit cards.

ELECTRICITY

220-240 V, 50 Hz. The electrical appliances from USA need a transformer and adaptor. UK ones need an adaptor. They can be bought in any ironmonger’s.
